Triaxial acceleration meter / Mobile version with NiMH battery / FFT analysis
IP 64 protection / Internal memory for up to 100,000 readings / SMS alert functionality
The PCE-VM 40C Data Logger or Accelerometer was designed for vibration and shock metering on buildings, bridges, towers, and other artificial structures. The Accelerometer measures vibrations in accordance to DIN 4150-3, BS 7385 and SN 640312A standards. With its internal memory for up to 100,000 readings, the PCE-VM 40C Accelerometer can determine the effects of construction sites, traffic, or industrial processing on buildings over a long period of time. You can choose between time-based and event-based recording, as well as between recording of short-time and long-time vibrations. It is also possible to set threshold levels which trigger an alarm signal when exceeded. With the built-in GSM module (optional), the device can send you SMS notifications once the alarm is triggered.
The Accelerometer is very easy to use and can be configured for different applications in no time. The measured data can easily be viewed on the integrated display of the device. Here you can see the vibration speed in all 3 directions. The Accelerometer has an integrated NiMH battery which makes it suited for mobile use on-site. A mains / AC adaptor for stationary use is also included in delivery.
Monitoring on buildings and structures is required not only during the planning and construction, but also after they have ben finished. The impact from excessive vibrations coming from the outer sources, permanent or sporadic, as well as the seismographic phenomena, may be absolutely devastating and therefore, the reliable instruments, like data logger for vibration or seismographic data logger, turn out to be quite handy. Form the one side, they provide a possibility of continuous monitoring and reliable storage of information, from the other – a very quick data transfer and notification about deviations from the norms, allow for quick reacting in case of emergency.
The data logger installed in the locations to be supervised, helps to evaluate the current situation, to prevent the damage in case of continuous and destroying vibrations or due to the detection of the coming hazard, to evaluate the damages from the short-term and strong impact, to carry out monitoring of the condition of many structures, constructions and fundamental buildings or bearing walls, residential objects, dams, bridges, towers etc.
The advantage of the application of such data logger is simplicity of its mounting and operation. The device is resistant and due to the battery operation, can work even under the challenging conditions. In no time, the data registered and stored in the data logger is transferred further to the PC or the central point where the information is processed, which gives an opportunity for fast reacting in cases of emergency (if it goes about seismographic activity and sudden change in the current parameters). Monitoring of vibrations with the help of the data logger allows analysing the source of the vibrations and the total damage which they cause to the buildings and constructions situated close to them. Depending on the type of the vibrations, duration, intensity and frequencies, the corresponding steps may be taken for providing safety and eliminating the risks for the surrounding environment.
