Class I Noise Meter / Sound Level Calibrator
for mobile use / For various evaluation filters /
Accuracy IEC 942, class 1 / For microphones with different dimensions
The Noise Meter / Sound Meter Calibrator is a battery powered sound source. With the Sound Meter Calibrator, direct and fast calibrations of sound level meters and other systems for noise measurement can be carried out. Sound level sensors of 1, ½ and ¼ inch can be connected to the Sound Meter Calibrator and checked via the adapter attachments. The accuracy of sound level meters can be checked with a sound level calibrator which generates fixed reference levels. To ensure that the measurement is not influenced by ambient noise, the sound level calibrator is usually equipped with a recording aperture for the measuring microphone. If the sound level calibrator generates several reference levels, for example 94 dB and 114 dB, the sound meters can be tested at the level that fits better to the application or at both levels. The measured value should match the level generated by the sound level calibrator. If the determined value is outside the expected accuracy, many sound level meters have the possibility to be readjusted. Four accuracy classes are defined for sound level meters in DIN EN 60651. For instruments of accuracy class 0, only 0.4 decibel deviation is allowed. For accuracy class 1, the deviation is 0.7 decibels, and for class 2, up to 1.0 decibels. Accuracy class 3 instruments, on the other hand, may have a deviation of 1.5 decibels and are only permitted for orienting measurements. Sound level calibrators are also classified into accuracy classes. DIN EN 60942 defines the three accuracy classes LS, 1 and 2. A sound level calibrator of class LS should be used for sound level meters of classes 0 and 1, a sound level calibrator of class 1 for sound meters of class 2 and a calibrator of class 2 for sound meters of class 3..
The calibration frequency for the Sound Level Calibrator is 1000 Hz. This is the reference frequency for the internationally standardized evaluation curves. With this Sound Meter Calibrator you can calibrate sound measuring devices with weighting filters A, B, C, or D. The calibration pressure for this Sound Meter Calibrator is 94 ± 0.3 dB (1 Pa) and 114 ± 0.3 dB (10 Pa). Thus, the Sound Meter Calibrator is used in quality assurance, for example, to test sound level meters or in calibration laboratories.
