Portable high-accuracy decibel meter with 1/1 octave band filter (optional 1/3 octave band filter upgrade)
PCE-430 is a class 1 sound level meter that meets IEC 60651:1979, IEC 60804:2000, IEC 61672-1:2013, ANSI S1.4-1983 and ANSI S1.43-1997 requirements. This portable high-accuracy sound level meter has a large easy-to-read illuminated LCD screen that displays the sound pressure level (SPL) numerically and graphically in real time. Thanks to octave band filtering, even the slightest difference in frequency is detected.
The handheld meter also functions as a data logger, recording measurements at an adjustable interval from 1 s ... 24 h and storing the recorded measurement data to a micro SD card memory. The SD card can be removed from the class 1 sound level meter and inserted into the SD card reader of a PC. Alternatively, the decibel meter can be connected directly to a PC via USB. The provided PC-compatible software allows for quick and easy data analysis.
This device measures from 22 ... 136 db(A) at a frequency of 3 Hz ... 20 kHz. The class 1 sound level meter features A, B, C and Z frequency weightings as well as fast, slow and impulse time weightings. This decibel meter is commonly used by professionals to ensure compliance with environmental noise regulations and workplace noise permissible exposure limits. It is also ideal for airport and air force base noise monitoring programs.
To objectively evaluate the “health level” of the environment it is necessary to measure a few parameters, among which the most important one is the level of noise. The class I sound level meter is a tool which reacts to noise as well as the human ear, but is able of measuring the intensity of the noise very accurately and precisely. Noise may be a very annoying and stress causing factor and thus, its measurement and regulation is a task of the employer in his office and at the factory, of the construction workers or people responsible for entertaining arrangements, of the staff in hospitals and schools, at the airports and train stations, the list may be continued and continued. There are strict sanitary norms, since noise level maintenance is similar to hygiene, and deviations from these official norms must be avoided, because of the long list of aggravating consequences and health damages which inevitably follow in case of non-compliance with the rules.
Nosie may have different origin, different duration, and depending on the frequency it may be precepted by the human unprotected ear differently. The class I sound level meter in no time is able to provide the operator with the full spectrum of information about what type of noise occurs and for how long. Due to the data-logging function, this first-class noise measuring device can gather the information continuously. Which helps to get a clear picture about the noise environment at a particular location during longer time periods, which may be very helpful, for example, when planning the new projects, choosing the place for schools, hospitals, new residential districts etc. the sound meter is calibrated, as a rule, before its application, and the results which it provides are, thus, reliable and repeatable.
The class I sound level meter is perfect for noise measurement in the workplace as well as in the open air. The personal perception may be an indication for carrying out the measurements, but the measurements carried out by the portable and accurate sound meter are definitely an indication for taking exact steps on the way of improvement of the noise situation at a particular location. If the sound meter gives a warning indication or if is clear after the data procession after a long-term continuous monitoring that the deviation from the norms takes place and noise limits are exceeded often or the noise intensity is clearly higher than the values, mentioned in the regulations, it is a good enough reason to introduce the protecting clothes and accessories for the workers, to reduce and adjust the time of exposure to noise, to take measures to reduce the traffic noise pollution in certain areas, to stop using the equipment and machines causing too much noise and vibration, to introduce the rules of behaviour in certain premises etc.
Application of the reliable equipment, like sound level meter class 1, for sure, pays off, since instead of violations and problems which noise pollution always brings, healthy and productive environment may be created easily.
