Regardless of the area of life, the monitoring of hygienic conditions is unavoidable. In some areas, however, it plays a particularly critical role. In the food industry and in food manufacturing companies, the most checks by the supervisory authorities must be expected. It is not only important for the end consumer to get a clean product that is safe for health and has no contamination or risk of picking up unwanted bacteria or getting sick. It is also absolutely devastating for companies in the food industry to receive regular customer complaints about product quality. This ruins the company's reputation in the long run and leads to high losses.

Besides the usual visual inspection (which is neither sufficient nor reliable) or microbiological tests (which are very time-consuming), there is a new method to quickly and efficiently detect ATP (adenosine triphosphate). With this method, one can quickly find out how dirty a surface is, assess the risks and eliminate the existing problem. This method brings to light what even the most attentive and sharpest eye misses: invisible bacteria that can have dire consequences once they have developed and spread.

ATP is intrinsically present in any living micro-organism, as well as in every cell, in food, bacteria, mould, etc. However, the decisive factor for determining the contamination of a surface that comes into contact with certain foods is how much ATP is present. It plays an important role whether the limit value has been met or exceeded.

In most cases, production does not take place in an isolated vacuum. The products themselves are also not in an isolated vacuum. The total ATP value which is then to be considered and analysed at the end is therefore made up of several values from different ATP sources in the area to be assessed. The application spectrum of an ATP measuring device is broad and includes above all various areas of the food industry such as breweries, beverage producers, fish, meat and poultry processing companies, fruit and vegetable processing companies, the catering sector and manufacturers of baby food. The ATP testers are no bigger than a pen, portable and reliable.
